What is an annuity?

An Annuity is a contract between you and the issuer where you agree to give the issuer a premium principal payment, and in return the issuer guarantees you fixed or increasing payments for the remainder of your lifetime.   The issuer guarantees that you cannot outlive your Annuity income.  Annuities are only issued by insurance companies.

An Annuity can be compared to a savings account at a bank.  However, your Annuity is with an insurance company, not a bank.   When compared to the interest rate earned in a bank savings account, the interest rate earned in an Annuity is typically significantly higher in its growth potential.

Fixed and Fixed Index Annuity products are designed to pay the best benefits when your money is allowed to remain in the account for extended periods.  However, there are types of Fixed Annuities that will enable full access to your initial premium without any cost, fee, or penalty.  Also, there is never a period that you are not allowed to access the entire balance in your Annuity.  Like other investments, you may be subject to early withdrawal fees and taxes, but you will always have access to your money.  Furthermore, many Annuities allow you to avoid withdrawal penalties… Read More

With a Fixed Index Annuity, your principal, earned interest, and any bonus you received are contractually guaranteed to never reduce in value.  All are locked in, and this means you are guaranteed never to lose your money.  This guarantee is an inherent advantage of Fixed Index Annuities over other financial instruments like stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and variable Annuities.  When you receive your annual Annuity statement, it is guaranteed to never show a loss or less value than the year before.

Between the years 2000 and 2008, we have seen the unprecedented occurrence… Read More
